Pop Art, though an Anglo-American phenomenon originating in the 50s, has become an international movement. Today, it continues to deal with the same, contemporary themes of mass culture, industry, and modern society. Whether Pop Art celebrates these things, is ambivalent about them, or denounces them is the subject of much debate. While this exhibit does not aim to settle that debate—though we invite you to engage in it—we hope to give some idea of what Pop Art is today through an eclectic mix of the works of ten exciting contemporary artists from around the world.
